Having active acne doesn't mean you have to use dozens of products or go through complicated routines. A simple routine, with the right active ingredients and in the correct order, can control acne, reduce the marks it leaves, and improve skin texture in a few weeks. Here's how to do it.
Why Order Matters in Your Routine
Applying products in the wrong order can reduce their effectiveness or cause irritation. The general rule is to go from the lightest to the densest texture, and always finish with sunscreen in the morning.
Morning Routine for Acne-Prone Skin
Step 1: Cleansing
Use MAHU Facial Cleanser. A gentle but effective cleanse that removes excess oil, impurities, and nighttime residue without drying or altering the skin barrier. Massage in circular motions for 30 seconds and rinse with lukewarm water. Do not use very hot water — it dilates pores and stimulates more sebum production.
Step 2: Active Serum
Apply MAHU Facial Serum with Vitamin C. Vitamin C inhibits melanin production, reducing acne marks, and acts as an antioxidant that protects the skin from environmental damage during the day. Apply 3-4 drops to clean, dry skin, spread gently.
Step 3: Hydration (if needed)
Oily, acne-prone skin also needs hydration. An oil-free or gel moisturizer won't create additional shine or clog pores, and helps maintain a healthy skin barrier. A healthy barrier better defends against acne.
Step 4: Sunscreen — the most important step
MAHU SPF 50 Sunscreen is the step that has the most impact on controlling acne and its marks. The sun worsens inflammation and darkens post-inflammatory marks. Without SPF, your vitamin C serum and nighttime toner are only half-effective.
Night Routine for Acne-Prone Skin
Step 1: Double cleanse if you wore makeup or sunscreen
Remove sunscreen and makeup first. Then cleanse with MAHU Facial Cleanser to ensure your pores are completely clean before applying active ingredients.
Step 2: Exfoliating Toner
MAHU Depigmenting Toner with Salicylic Acid is the star of the night. Salicylic acid penetrates the pore, removes dead skin cells, unclogs, and regulates oil production. Apply with a cotton pad to the entire face, paying special attention to the T-zone and active blemishes. Leave on overnight.
Step 3: Nighttime Hydration
Night is the time for regeneration. A gentle moisturizer helps repair the barrier and enhances the work of salicylic acid.
Common Mistakes in Acne Routines
- Over-exfoliating: using toner twice a day or combining it with other acids irritates the skin and worsens acne.
- Skipping moisturizer: dehydrated skin produces more oil to compensate. Always moisturize, even if you have oily skin.
- Picking pimples: causes additional inflammation and worse marks.
- Changing routines every week: give your routine at least 4 weeks before evaluating if it works.
